WHY DID YOU CHOOSE NEVADA?

There are several reasons why I chose Nevada. I chose Nevada because it allowed me to stay home with my family while still allowing me to compete in a sport which I am very passionate about. The coaching staff was very knowledgeable, and this was very important to me since I came from a high school that didn't have a very established track program. The coaches at Nevada gave me an opportunity to develop as an athlete, and this inspired me to work that much harder to prove that I could contribute to the Nevada program (since I was a walk-on). Not only did Nevada have an established track and field program, which was very appealing, but I could also pursue a degree in Community Health Sciences.

WHAT HAS BEEN A HIGHLIGHT OF YOUR CAREER HERE AT NEVADA?

A highlight of my career came during the spring of 2009 at the WAC Championships in Utah. I scored my first WAC points of my career by finishing 7th in the heptathlon with a personal best, and finishing 5th in the long jump with a personal best as well. Everything came together at the right time, and it was very exciting to have all of my hard work pay off.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS FOR THIS SEASON?

Since we have two different seasons, I have different goals for each season. Indoors, I would like to score at the WAC Championships, and set personal bests in both the pentathlon and long jump. Outdoors, I would like to improve on my 200 and javelin, and get better in all of my events with every meet. My ultimate goal would be to place in both the heptathlon and long jump again this year at the outdoor WAC Championships, but this time I would like to improve my heptathlon score by 400 points and jump 19 feet in the long jump.

WHAT MEET ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS YEAR?

I am most looking forward to the indoor WAC Championships since this makes up the last meet of our indoor season. I am also looking forward to the outdoor WAC Championships. These two meets allow all of our individual events to count toward our team score, and it is so neat to help contribute to the team.
