Nevada (1-3) plays Boston University (2-3) on Tuesday night at GW’s Smith Center at 5:30 p.m. ET. The Terriers lost 51-50 to Hampton in the first game Monday.
Nevada is 1-3 after falling 58-56 at George Washington (2-1) Monday night.
Nevada is now 1-4 in the Preseason NIT posting a 0-3 mark this season combined with a 1-1 record during the 2003-04 year.
The Boston University game will be the fourth in a row for Nevada away from Reno with one more at South Dakota State on Nov. 30 before a home contest with UNLV on Dec. 4. The BU game will be the third neutral site game of the season.
Junior forward Dario Hunt has led the Wolf Pack in scoring in all four games this season, scoring 16 against GW. It’s the first games during his 73 career games in which he has led the Pack in scoring and scored in double figures in four consecutive games.
For the first time this season Hunt did not lead the team in rebounding versus GW as freshman Devonte Elliott topped the squad with a career-high 14. Elliott came off the bench for the first time this year and grabbed five offensive and nine defensive rebounds.
Elliott’s 14 rebounds vs. GW is the first double figure rebounding game of the season by a Nevada player.
Freshmen Jordan Burris and Kevin Panzer made their first career starts vs. GW replacing Devonte Elliott and Jerry Evans, Jr.
Of the 12 players that saw action vs. GW, nine scored of which eight were first-year players.
The GW game marked the first time this season that Nevada did not have two players score in double figures as Hunt was the lone player with his 16 points.
Despite the lineup change the Pack continued to start a young lineup with four newcomers in freshmen Kevin Panzer, Jordan Burris and Deonte Burton along with sophomore transfer Malik Story. The lone returning starter is Dario Hunt.
Hunt continues to lead the team in scoring and rebounding averaging 15.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.
Nevada boasts two double figure scorers on the season in Hunt (15.5 ppg) and Story (10.5 ppg).
Nevada has lost its last two games by a combined three points. The Pack lost 76-75 vs. Pepperdine (Nov. 16) and 58-56 at GW (Nov. 22).
For the first-time freshman Deonte Burton failed to score in double figures finishing with two points coming from the free throw line going 2-for-2 but was 0-for-11 from the field.
Nevada has outrebounded its last two opponents but the plus 10 (45-35) vs. GW was the largest margin of the season. The Pack outrebounded Pepperdine (Nov. 16) by one, 35-34.
Of the Pack’s offense 74 (196-of-265) percent is being scored by first year players.
Nevada’s bench has outscored its opponents 95-68 this season.
