EL PASO, Texas - The University of Nevada rifle team defeated UTEP 4,610-4,591 for its fourth dual meet win of the season Saturday.
Nevada is now 3-1 against the Miners in dual meet competition this season and 4-1 overall with its only loss coming in El Paso, September 23.
Saturday Dempster Christenson and Clif Little led the Wolf Pack and the tournament in high individual scores. Christenson took the top air rifle honor with a score of 592. Little's 582 was the best score any student-athlete could muster on the small-bore range.
"Dempster and Clif both had great matches," head coach Fred Harvey said.
Little also came in with a 582 in air rifle for the Pack, the second highest score on the team. Little had not competed in the air rifle portion of two of the last three matches due to injury, but seems to be getting back to form. He shot a 575 against the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford a week ago.
Other Nevada scores included a 581 in air rifle from Haunami Akana and a 561 in small bore from Jessica Klatt.
Nevada will compete in its last match before the NCAA Qualifiers when it takes on Air Force November 21 in Colorado Springs, Colo.
