RENO, Nev. - The blue team won game two of the University of Nevada's Silver and Blue Series 4-3 on Tuesday morning at Peccole Park to even the series at one game each. The silver squad took game one 4-0 on Monday. Game three will be played at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning and is free and open to the public.
The silver squad got an RBI double from Brock Stassi in the top of the first inning to score Joe Kohan and led 1-0. Hugo Hernandez scored on a two out error in the top of the fourth inning and it was 2-0 in the favor of the silver squad.
The silver squad made it 3-0 with a single run in the top of the fifth inning. Jake Ferdinand walked and moved to third on Kohan's single to right field. Stassi walked to load the bases and Brian Barnett's infield single plated the third run of the game. Tyler Rogstad who came on to pitch at the start of inning avoided further damage inducing a 1-2-3 double play.
Trailing 3-0, the blue squad scored four times in the bottom of the seventh inning to win 4-3. Curtis Frisbie's solo home run started the rally and got the blue squad on the scoreboard. Anthony Rosa then walked and moved to third base on Waylen Sing Chow's single to right field. A walk to Nick Melino loaded the bases and a walk to Michael Turay scored the second run of the inning. Sing Chow scored the tying run when Garrett Yrigoyen reached on a fielders choice. Melino scored the winning run on a double steal to complete the comeback.
Troy Marks earned the win pitching two scoreless innings allowing two hits and striking out four. Andrew Millner suffered the loss allowing one run in his outing.
Barnett led the silver team going 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in a run while Kohan collected two hits in three at bats. Stassi was 1-for-3 with an RBI double.
Sing Chow was perfect in the game with three hits in three at bats including a double and scored the tying run. Frisbie went 1-for-4 with a home run and Rosa was 1-for-2. Melino reached base four times walking twice, was hit by pitch twice and ended up scoring the winning run.
