THE SKINNY
Coming off its lone bye week of the 13-game season, the Nevada football team is home to play host to Utah State for Hall of Fame weekend at Mackay Stadium ... For the first time ever, Nevada is ranked in the top 25 of the BCS Rankings as Nevada is No. 24 in week two of the rankings ... Nevada is unranked in both major national polls but the Wolf Pack is receiving votes in each and is one spot out of the Top 25 in both the AP and USA Today polls ... Nevada’s Dontay Moch is the nation’s active leader in tackles for loss with 55.0 -- that total is also the current school and WAC record ... The Wolf Pack’s Vai Taua is second in the nation (behind Noel Devine of West Virginia) in career rushing yards amongst active players and he needs 94 rushing yards to become the fourth player in Nevada history and the fifth player in WAC history to rush for 4,000 career yards ... The Wolf Pack returned 15 starters from last year’s team that went 8-5 overall and 7-1 (second place) in Western Athletic Conference play ... Included among the returners are six All-WAC players, including a pair of 1,000-yard rushers in senior quarterback Colin Kaepernick and senior running back Vai Taua, as well as the reigning WAC Defensive Player of the Year, senior defensive end Dontay Moch ... Overall, Nevada returned nine starters on offense as the Wolf Pack led the nation in rushing in 2009 ... Nevada is coming off its fifth straight bowl appearance.
