EL PASO, Texas - The University of Nevada rifle team fell to the UTEP Miners by a final score of 4,603-4,575 Saturday.
The Pack was hampered by the absence of Clif Little, who missed the match due to medical issues, and some equipment issues the day of the match.
"Clif (Little) being out hurt us and equipment issues didn't help," head coach Fred Harvey said. "No excuses though, we need to do better as a team."
Individually, Nevada was led by Dempster Christenson, who took high honor in both air rifle and small bore with scores of 594 and 579 respectively.
"Dempster's score was superb," Harvery said. "His score might have been the best combined score in the nation last week."
Harvey also said that replacement parts are on their way and that the new parts should prevent any further issues with the team's guns. There was no immediate word as to whether Little would be available for Nevada's next contest.
The Pack will have an opportunity to get immediate revenge on the Miners, as they come to Reno this Saturday, October 30. The match will take place at 9 a.m. and is the next action for both teams.
