Box Score Fresno, Calif. - The University of Nevada men's tennis team went 1-1 in a double header against University of Idaho and Fresno State, Sunday January 24th. The Wolf Pack is now 1-2 in conference play.
The Pack dominated the first double header of the day as they took down the Idaho Vandals 4-0.
Sophomore Wessim Derbel and seniors Laurent Garcin and Alex Daruty won in singles against the Vandals.
"We played very well; Idaho is a much stronger team than last year," Sylvain Malroux, head tennis coach said.
In the second match of the day the Pack deafted Fresno State in singles, yet doubles play was the deciding point. The Pack suffered in doubles play as they didn't get in a single win against the Bulldogs and fell 3-4.
The Wolf Pack won the singles points as Wessim Derbel defeated Mirko Zapletal (7-5, 7-5, 2), Laurent Garcin beat Rikus de Villiers (3-6, 6-0, 6-2, 3) and Kristian Kuharszky won over Fresno's Taylor Leiby (3-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-4).
"It was a great match, we are just as good as they are, it is exciting for the rest of season, we are getting better," Malroux said.
