RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada track and field team will compete at the Hornet Invite on Saturday hosted by Sacramento State.

Sixteen student-athletes are scheduled to compete for Nevada.  The meet starts with the women’s hammer throw at 9:15 a.m. and will conclude Saturday evening with the 4x400 meter relay and the triple jump.

“We are very excited about getting the outdoor season off to great start.  Alex McAlman has set the tone for the rest of the team when she qualified for the NCAA West Region Meet two weeks ago at the UNLV Classic in two events,” head coach Shantel Twiggs said.  “Our goal is to build on each meet, we will not be a full team, but should see some strong performances from the 16 athletes that will be representing Nevada at the Hornet Invite.  Sacramento State always puts on a great meet and we hope to capitalize with some great performances.”

Saturday’s meet will mark Nevada first competition since March 7 when the team competed at the UNLV Track and Field Classic.
