This Week in Nevada History is a new feature on the official website of Wolf Pack Athletics. Each week, we will feature several of the top moments from that week in the history of the Wolf Pack program, researched and written by Media Services Intern Nick Saccomanno. Check back each week for more information about the history of Nevada Athletics. November 8-15
Nov. 10, 2001 - Current Seattle Seahawks wide receiver and former Wolf Pack star Nate Burleson nabbed the Nevada single-game record for receiving yards. In total, Burleson had 12 catches for 326 yards that day in a contest vs. San Jose State. Oddly enough, he failed to find the end zone despite being only the second receiver in the history of the program to eclipse the 300-yard mark in a game. The other, a 314-yard performance from Alex Van Dyke, was also against the Spartans in 1995.
Nov. 14, 1998 - Volleyball standout Alanna Whitnack posted the school record for assists during a hard-fought, five-set win over Utah State. During the 3-2 victory, Whitnack passed 85 balls to her teammates that resulted in kills. Arguably the best passer in school history, she holds the top three marks in assists for a single game at 85, 76 and 73.
