RENO, Nev. University of Nevada rifle team member Meghann Morrill has been awarded a $7,500 NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship. Morrill, a native of Verdi, Nev., has a 3.87 GPA in accounting and information systems.
The scholarships are awarded to student-athletes who excel academically and athletically and who are in their final year of intercollegiate athletics competition. Former volleyball player Christine Harms was awarded an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship in 2006 while former skier Jesse Carlstrom received the scholarship in 2005.
Morrill, who just completed her senior season with the Pack’s rifle team, was named to the 2008 All-America First Team in air rifle following her senior season. She was a four-year letterwinner with Nevada’s rifle team and served as a team captain during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.
During her senior season, Morrill finished first in seven of the Pack’s eight competitions during the season and also recorded the high team aggregate, 1168. She competed in the 2008 U.S. Olympic Air Rifle Tryouts and finished seventh overall. Currently, she is ranked fifth in the United States in women’s air rifle.
In addition, Morrill, who is scheduled to graduate in May, received an Outstanding Senior Award from the College of Business Administration and will be graduating Magna Cum Laude from the Honors Program.
