RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada women’s tennis team moved up in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Rankings released this week by the ITA.
The Wolf Pack is now ranked No. 65 in the nation after winning its last four matches. Nevada is 7-7 on the year, playing one of the toughest schedules in school history.
“This is really exciting for the program to get this kind of recognition,” third-year coach Sylvain Malroux said. “I think that the hard work put in by the girls is starting to pay off. We have played a very difficult schedule and I think that experience is really pay dividends now.”
Individually, sophomore Maria Mizyuk remained in the top 125 in the nation as she is ranked No. 59 in the country. The big move for the Wolf Pack came in the doubles rankings where Mizyuk and junior Caroline Bailly jumped from No. 58 to No. 38 this week.
“I believe this is the first time in the program history that we are ranked as a team and also have a singles player and a doubles team ranked at the same time,” Malroux said.
Last season, Nevada reached No. 56 in the rankings, matching a program high.
The Wolf Pack returns to action on Saturday at No. 16 Fresno State.
