CBS College Sports To Air Saturday's Doubleheader:  CBS College Sports Network will air both games of Saturday's doubleheader with Fresno State on television nationally.  Game one is scheduled for a 1:06 p.m. first pitch and the second game is slated to start at 5:06 p.m.  Tom Hart will handle the play by play duties on Saturday with Kevin Stocker providing the color analysis.
 Saturday will mark the second consecutive year that a baseball game from Peccole Park will air on national television.  Last season the Wolf Pack defeated San Jose State 12-1 on April 15 in the first ever televised game from Peccole Park which was carried by CSTV.  CSTV is now CBS College Sports.

NEVADA HOSTS WAC LEADING FRESNO STATE THIS WEEKEND
 After a weekend on the road the Nevada(22-17, 9-7 WAC) baseball team will host Fresno State(24-16, 13-3 WAC) for a four-game Western Athletic Conference series at Peccole Park starting Friday night at 6:00 p.m.  The first game of Saturday’s doubleheader gets underway at 1:06 p.m. with the second one slated to start at 5:06 p.m.  Sunday’s final game is a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.
 FS currently sits atop the WAC standings with 13-3 mark while the Wolf Pack are four games back leaving them tied with Hawai`i for third place.  The Bulldogs won three of the four games played earlier this season in Fresno, Calif.  FS holds a 25-15 series advantage in WAC play and are 9-9 during that stretch at Peccole Park.

TEAM:  Offensively Nevada struggled in Hawai’i last weekend hitting just .207 and scored 11 total runs in the four-game series...Nevada is second in the WAC with a .311 batting average, tied for second with a .972 field percentage and is sixth with a 5.83 ERA...nationally the team ranks 68th in hitting, 83rd in scoring, 73rd in runs, 84th in hits, 63rd in doubles per game, 47th in doubles, 46th in triples per game, 34th in triples and 183rd in ERA...in WAC play the Pack are third in hitting(.299), fifth in fielding(.968) and ERA(6.49)...playing 6 doubleheaders this season Nevada has swept four vs. CSUMB, vs. La Tech, vs. NMSU, and vs. UVU and split two at Fresno State and at Hawai`i...13 times this season the Pack have scored in double figures winning 12 of those contests, the only loss when scoring double digits was a 17-10 setback to #22 Oregon State...Nevada has made use of the WAC’s new 10-run rule after 7-innings twice defeating La Tech 14-3 and NMSU 11-1 but had it turned on them three times falling 11-1 and 13-3 at Fresno State and 13-3 at Hawai`i...Nevada went 11-3 during a season-high 14-game homestand that ended with a 4-game sweep of La Tech...Nevada has won four series this year taking 2-of-3 from UC Riverside(3/7-9), 3-of-4 from NMSU(4/4-6) and all four from La Tech(3/20-22) and Utah Valley(4/11-13)...Nevada’s 9-4 loss to UNLV(3/25) snapped a season-high 5-game win streak and 8-game win streak vs. the Rebels...The Pack split its two games with the two-time College World Series Champion Oregon State Beavers winning 10-1, losing 17-10 and the third game was cancelled due to weather...Nevada had a season-high 26 hits and 24 runs in game 1 vs. CSUMB...Nevada was picked to finish third in the Preseason WAC Coaches’ Poll behind Fresno State and Louisiana Tech...Head coach Gary Powers is in his 26th season of directing the Wolf Pack baseball program in 2008 and is the longest tenured coach in the history of Nevada athletics.

AT THE PLATE:  Nationally 2B-David Ciarlo ranks 81st in hitting...Ciarlo is second in the WAC in hitting(.396), on base %(.492) and is first in triples(4)...Nevada boasts five of the top 15 hitters in the WAC: Ciarlo(.396,2nd), 3B-Jason Rodriguez(.377,5th), 1B-Shaun Kort(.357,9th), LF-Matt Bowman(.348,12th) and CF-Jason Sadoian(.336,15th)...Ciarlo, Kort and Rodriguez were named the WAC Hitters of the Week three consecutive weeks from Feb. 25 to Mar. 16...Rodriguez hit .375(21-for-56) with 9 runs scored, 14RBI, 8 doubles and a home run during a team season and career-high 14-game hit streak that ended in the final game at Hawai`i(4/20)...Rodriguez’ 14-game hit streak is tied for the third longest in the WAC this season...Kort hit .352(19-for-54) with 10 runs scored, 15RBI, 5 doubles and 3 home runs during a career-high 13-game hit streak that ended in game 3 of the Fresno State(3/29) series...Ciarlo hit .595(25-for-42) with 15 runs scored, 11RBI, 4 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs during a career-high 12-game hit streak that was snapped vs. Oregon State(3/14)...RF-Mike Hale’s .388 average in WAC play is 8th in the conference and he ranks in the top 10 in three other categories in WAC only action...Hale drove in a career-high 5 in the final game vs. NMSU(4/6) with 4 coming on his two, 2-run homers...Rodriguez, DH-Terry Walsh and Hale have hit 2 home runs in a game this season...Hale had a career-high 9-game hit streak in which he hit .484(15-for-31) with 11 runs scored, 5RBI, 6 doubles and a home run snapped at UNLV going 0-for-4...Ciarlo had started 88 consecutive games at second base and played in 113 in a row until missing game 2 of the La Tech series due to illness...Ciarlo(.800,4R,2B,2HR,6RBI) and Kort(.444, R,3RBI) were named to the Southwest Diamond Classic All-Tournament squad...Rodriguez ranks in the top 10 in the WAC in nine offensive categories...Rodriguez hit a home run in 3 consecutive games Mar. 11-14 and four total including his first 2 home run game vs. Oregon State...Kort(1B) and Rodriguez(3B) have started all 39 games at the same position...catchers Tyson Jaquez(21) and Travis Simas(17) have split most of catching duties for the Pack this season with freshman Matt Langenfeld starting the other game...Jaquez had a career-high 10-game hit streak this season...CF-Jason Sadoian has a hit leadoff in 37 of the Pack’s 39 games this season...Sadoian tied his career-high with 4 hits in game 3 vs. Utah Valley going 4-for-4 with 2 RBI...Bowman hit an inside the park home run vs. Utah Valley in game 4 that scored 2 runs after the left fielder ran into the wall trying to make the catch...Bowman also supplied all the offense with his solo home run leading off the 4th inning in the Pack’s 1-0 victory over Utah Valley in the series opener...Rodriguez leads the team with 18 multi hit games which is tied for third in the WAC...Kort tops the team with 11 multi RBI games while Rodriguez has 8 and Bowman has 7...Nevada pinch hitters are hitting .228(13-for-57) with 9 runs scored, a double, a home run and 10RBI...reserve IF/OF-Nick Leid drove in a team and WAC high 7 runs in game 1 vs. CSUMB...Bowman and Kort each had 5 hits in game 1 vs. CSUMB which is tied for the high by any player in the WAC this season and their career highs...Freshmen IF-Joe Wallace, OF-Waylen Sing Chow and IF-Garrett Patterson all collected their first collegiate hits in the doubleheader sweep of CSUMB...six different Pack players, Kort, Bowman, Leid, Sadoian, and P-Dan Eastham hit home runs in Nevada’s doubleheader sweep of CSUMB...Kort drove in a career-high 5 runs in game 1 vs. CS Monterey Bay and Bowman had a career-high 4 RBI.

ON THE MOUND:  LHP-Brock Stassi(3-0) improved to 3-0 on the season earning the win in the Pack’s 4-3 victory at Hawai`i...Stassi allowed 3 runs, 2 earned and struck out a career-high 5 in a career-high 7-innings on the mound at UH...RHP-Mario Rivera(2-1) retired all six hitters he faced in game 3 at Hawai`i striking out three to earn his team leading second save of the season...Rivera’s 7 career saves is tied for 9th most in Pack history...RHP’s Rod Scurry(4-5) and Kyle Howe(5-1) both struggled in the UH series as they were tagged with losses after both pitched complete games the weekend before...Howe lost for first time this season at Hawai`i giving up 6 runs on 5 hits with 4 strikeouts and 5 walks in just 2 innings which is the shortest outing of his career in a start...Scurry gave up 7 runs on 7 hits with 4 strikeouts and 4 walks in 5 innings at UH...Scurry pitched the first complete game of his career and first 1-0 shutout in Peccole Park history as the Pack defeated Utah Valley(4/11) in the first game of the series...Scurry allowed just 4 hits and struck out 6 vs. UVU...RHP-Kyle Howe won his fifth consecutive start pitching his second complete game of the year as Nevada defeated Utah Valley(4/12) 3-1...Scurry and Howe tossed back-to-back complete games in the first two games of the UVU series...Howe pitched his first complete game at Nevada and the first by the team this season allowing one run on 6 hits as the Pack defeated Fresno State(3/30) 4-1...Howe is 5-1 with a 3.76ERA, 23 strikeouts, 13 walks and 2 complete games in his last 6 starts while Scurry is 4-3 with a 3.40ERA, 39 strikeouts, 20 walks and a complete game in his last 7 starts...Howe ranks seventh in ERA(3.97) and sixth in opponent batting average(.226) in the WAC while Scurry is 11th with a 4.36ERA and fifth with a .223 opponent batting average...Stassi has won 3 of his 4 starts on the season vs. UNLV, NMSU and at Hawai`i but received a no decision vs. Utah Valley...Stassi won his first two career starts in the same week vs. UNLV and NMSU...RHP-Dan Eastman has been in the weekend rotation 3 of the last 5 weekends but has been moved to the bullpen...RHP-Derek Achelpohl pitched 6.1 innings of 6 hit, 8 strikeout relief vs. La Tech to earn his first win at Nevada...Achelpohl pitched 3 shutout innings with 5 strikeouts vs. Utah Valley to earn his first save at Nevada and has been moved to the weekend rotation...8 Pack pitchers RHP-Bryan Suarez(2ip), RHP-Sammy Miller(1ip), LHP-Jacob Kaup(1ip), Achelpohl(1ip), Stassi(1ip), Eastham(1ip), RHP-Ryan Iodence(1ip) and RHP-Ben Colton(1ip) combined to allow just 5 hits in a 10-0 shutout of Pacific(3/18)...Eastham(4ip), Iodence(1ip), Miller(1ip) and Stassi(1ip) combined earlier in the season to shutout CSUMB 16-0 in the second game of a doubleheader back on Mar. 4...Stassi, Achelpohl and RHP-Sammie Miller each have one save on the season...Miller leads the team with 13 appearances which is tied for 10th in the WAC...after making 6 starts to begin the season LHP-Chris Garcia has been moved to the bullpen where he has earned 2 wins in his last 4 appearances...Eastham got the first win of his career tossing 4 shutout innings in his start vs. CSUMB, he was the first starter to earn a win this season...the Pack’s first two wins of the season came from relievers RHP-Stephen Bautista vs. UT Arlington and Suarez vs. CSUMB but 14-of-22 on the season have been by starters.
