RENO, Nev. The Nevada women’s tennis team dropped another heartbreaker on Friday, losing 4-3 to No. 27 Denver at Galena High School.

Nevada, ranked No. 65, won the doubles point and a pair of singles matches but could not get the deciding fourth point. The Wolf Pack fell to 7-9 on the year while the Pioneers improved to 18-2

“It was a very close match and we had our chances,” Nevada coach Sylvain Malroux said. “It was an exciting match. Denver is a good team with a lot of spirit. Give them credit they played hard.”

Nevada got wins in doubles from its No. 1 team of Maria Mizyuk and Caroline Bailly as they bested Denver’s Julia Beauregger and Mallory Voekler 8-5. In No. 2 doubles, Nevada’s Alice Hall and Ly-Huong Dinh rallied back from a 7-4 deficit to win 9-7 and give Nevada the doubles point.

Bailly rallied back from a set down to beat Annette Aksdal in No. 2 single and Hall won in straight sets over Ute Schnoy.

Nevada will return to action on Sunday when it plays host to WAC favorite Boise State at Galena. The match will begin at 11 a.m. and is free to the public.
