BOISE, Idaho Janet Martinez won the 5000 meters with a time of 18:09.61 on the first day of the Bronco Invitational on Friday. The time places the freshman eighth on Nevada’s all-time 5000 meter indoor list.
Chelsea Chauvet-Moore took fifth in the 5000 meters (19:05.42) while Tiffany Tandy finished ninth with a time of 19:42.15.
Ashley Land took ninth in the long jump (5.61m) while Felicia Ladson finished 11th (5.35m). Kereiona Johnson finished 13th (5.31m) followed by Aurelia Houston who took 15th (5.06m). Johnson, who also finished third overall in the 60 meter hurdles (8.82), recorded the fourth fastest 60 meter hurdle time in school history.
The Pack throwers recorded three top-10 finishes in the weight throw. Inger Appanaitis finished fifth overall (15.52m) followed by Constance McAlman (6th, 15.52m) and Emily Jacobsen (8th, 15.05m).
Nevada will compete in day two of the Bronco Invitational on Saturday.
