2008 WAC Indoor Championship Information
RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada track and field team will travel to Boise, Idaho Feb. 28 March 1 for the 2008 WAC Indoor Championships hosted by Boise State at Jacksons Track.
Nevada, who finished in seventh place at last season’s WAC Indoor Championships, will have 27 student-athletes competing in this season’s championships. Nevada, who won back-to-back WAC Indoor Championships in 2003 and 2004, has also finished second at the meet, placing second in both 2001 and 2002.
“Each weekend has brought us results to show we are moving in the right direction. We have been preparing all season for the WAC Championships and we are prepared to have our best competition yet, together on the same day,” head coach Shantel Twiggs said. “The success of the meet does not fall in the hands of any one member of Wolf Pack track and field but in all 27 athletes that will be representing us this weekend. We have had many challenges this season but our student athletes have shown the true content of the character and with confidence and pride have overcome all that has been put before them and will represent the Wolf Pack well.”
During this year’s indoor season, the Pack has recorded 14 top-10 marks in the conference this season including two top times in the WAC this season. Samantha Davis has run the fastest time in conference in the mile this season (4:56.80) while Amanda Moreno has run the fastest time in the WAC in the 3000m this season (9:46.40).
