The NCAA announced Tuesday that the University of Nevada rifle team has been invited to compete against seven other schools for the NCAA Championship on March 14-15 at West Point, NY.
This will be the Wolf Pack's seventh consecutive NCAA Championship appearance and sixth as a team. Seniors Lee Lemenager and Meghann Morrill were selected last year to compete in the individuals match.
The NCAA selected the top eight teams based on the highest regular season aggregate scores in small bore and air rifle with no more than one match at any given site. The average came from the top three highest scores to determine the eight teams.
“We are delighted for the opportunity to compete,” coach Fred Harvey said.
After opening the 2007-2008 season with a second place finish at the Horned Frog Invitational, the Wolf Pack ended its regular season last Saturday and compiled an 11-3 record.
The Wolf Pack will compete against defending champion Alaska-Fairbanks, Kentucky, Nebraska, Texas Christian University, West Virginia, the United States Naval Academy and host United States Military Academy for the NCAA Championship.
