SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- The Nevada softball team saw its five-game win streak come to an end with a 4-2 loss to Marshall at the University of San Diego Tournament on Friday.

The Wolf Pack (9-4) out-hit the Thundering Herd but Nevada committed four errors on the day. Senior co-captain Jordan McPherson started and pitched into the fourth inning. She gave up four runs three earned on five hits while striking out five and walking two. McPherson fell to 5-2 on the year.

Marshall scored an unearned run in the first inning but Nevada tied it when freshman Noelle Micka blasted her first career home run.

But the Herd took the lead in the top of the fourth with three runs on four hits and one of Nevada’s errors. The Pack scored once in the sixth on a single by Britton Murdock that plated Micka but the Pack could get no closer.

Micka and Murdock each had two hits for the Pack while sophomore Katie Holverson came on in relief of McPherson and pitched 3.2 innings of hitless relief.

The game was postponed numerous times from its original 9:30 a.m. start time due to rain in Southern California. The teams finally were able to play with a 5 p.m. first pitch. Nevada's other game scheduled for Friday, against UC Riverside, was postponed.

The rest of Nevada’s schedule in the tournament will be decided late Friday night or Saturday morning based on the weather in Southern California.
