The University of Nevada athletics department on Friday made a sizable donation to victims of the recent flooding in Fernley, Nev.

Nearly 300 pair of brand new adidas shoes were donated to flood victims on Friday.

"Our athletic department has always felt a responsibility to give back to the community," said Craig Hopkins, head equipment manager and the director of football operations. "Just like we donated to victims of the South Tahoe fire last summer, we saw people in need after the flooding in Fernley and we wanted to help out."

Hopkins, Jason Martin and Randy Venters of the Wolf Pack equipment staff orchestrated the donation of the shoes, which had a retail value of nearly $25,000.
