Nevada senior catcher Konrad Schmidt (Petaluma, Calif.) has been named the Western Athletic Conference Baseball Hitter of the Week for February 26-March 4.
Schmidt hit .667 (6-9) in a three-game sweep of UNLV over the weekend. In Friday’s 5-3 win, he was 2-for-4 with a double and a RBI. On Saturday, he was 3-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored in the 7-4 victory. Schmidt finished the week going 1-for-2 on Sunday and was hit by a pitch in the 2-1 win.
On the season, Schmidt is hitting .414 (24-for-58) with six home runs and 22 RBI through the team's first 18 games. He leads the Pack in runs, hits, home runs, total bases, RBI, and slugging and on-base percentage.
