Nevada Montana St. Post Game Quotes

December 8, 2007

Sophomore Brandon Fields on guarding Carlos Taylor:

“I know he’s a good player, a good shooter.  I knew I had to get my hand up and contain his shot.”

Fields on playing in front of the home crowd:

“It was exciting, the crowd helps a little bit. It felt good to get a win.”

Senior Marcelus Kemp on his second half scoring:

“I was just trying to stay in the offense and not do too much. I just took what the offense gave me, and things just opened up for me.

Kemp on playing at point guard:

“I think I did good. I had one turnover, but I think I played good”

Senior Demarshay Johnson on coming off the bench:

“It really didn’t bother me too much.  Whether you start or come off the bench, you still have to contribute. I’m just trying to help the team win.”

Johnson on the game:

“Montana State is a good team with a lot of good players. For us to come out and get a win against a solid team is a good situation for us.”

Kemp on the play of his team:

“We just played a lot harder tonight and stayed in our offense. I think everyone is getting more comfortable with our sets and our team defense is getting better soon.”

Nevada head coach Mark Fox on this week’s preparation:

“We’ve improved as a team this week, but we’re still not consistent enough to be where I want us to be. We played better periods of basketball than we have in the past.”

Fox on the play of sophomore Ray Kraemer:

“Ray’s really practiced well. He’s a great shooter and a good, tough, competitive young man.”

Fox on starting sophomore forward Matt LaGrone:

“It was a better matchup to start LaGrone. Demarshay (Johnson) responded exactly like an unselfish senior should. Matt started off well and we got off to a good start.”

Fox on Montana point guard Carlos Taylor:

“Taylor is a very good player, good scorer.”

Fox on the performance of David Ellis and the bench:

“David Ellis played very well for us tonight.  As young as we are and as thin as our depth is, everyone contributed in their own way. I was very proud of what David gave us tonight.”

Montana State Head Coach Brad Huse on his team’s performance:

“We didn’t do a lot of positive things tonight certainly. But the road, when I talk to the guys, is a matter of decisions. There are no little things when you get on the road.”

Huse on the game plan:

“We just kind of stuck with what we’ve been doing and we were getting what we wanted. We had an opportunity with the lead and we made the plays we had to make and we made the free throws.”

Huse on his team’s performance on the road:

“We are playing good basketball, and [Nevada] is a team that doesn’t lose at home often. It is what it is, and it doesn’t get any easier. We’re not going to dwell on it.”
