FRESNO, Calif. Maria Mizyuk’s first tournament with the Nevada Wolf Pack was a successful one as the freshman took second at the Fresno State Bulldog Classic on Sunday.

Mizyuk, the 10th seed in the tournament, battled top-seeded Jelena Pandic in the first set before falling 7-5, 6-1. 

The Wolf Pack claimed three of the top four spots as Mizyuk defeated teammate and fellow freshman Alice Hall 6-0, 6-0 in the semifinals earlier on Sunday. Pandzic advanced to the final by beating Wolf Pack sophomore Caroline Bailly in the semis, 6-1, 6-0.

Bailly will travel to UCLA this weekend for the pre-qualifying rounds of the 2006 Riviera/ITA Women’s All-American Championships.

The Wolf Pack team will return to action Oct. 13-15 at the Saint Mary’s Fall Tournament in Moraga, Calif.
