RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada men's basketball team has added a home game against Alaska-Anchorage on November 10 to complete the 2006-07 schedule, third-year head coach Mark Fox announced Wednesday.

This year’s schedule features 16 home games, starting with the season opener with Alaska-Anchorage at 7:05 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10 at Lawlor Events Center. The three-time defending WAC champion Wolf Pack will play an exhibition game against Chico State on Tuesday, Nov. 7 at Lawlor Events Center.

“We are excited to announce the completion of our schedule. It has become a draining process that takes a great deal of time and energy,” Fox said. “We are confident that this challenging schedule will best prepare us for the rigors of conference play.”

After the season opener with Alaska-Anchorage, Nevada travels to Oregon State on Nov. 15 before returning home for a pair of home games against Arkansas-Pine Bluff (Nov. 18) and UC Irvine (Nov. 21). The Wolf Pack then hits the road for games at Santa Clara on Nov. 25 and Louisiana-Lafayette on Nov. 29.

The team will make an appearance in the 10th annual Pete Newell Challenge on Sunday, Dec. 3  in San Jose, Calif. Nevada will take on 2005 NCAA Tournament qualifier California in the game at HP Pavilion. The Wolf Pack will play four of its next five games at Lawlor Events Center, hosting in-state rival UNLV on Dec. 9, Saint Mary’s on Dec. 12 and 2006 NCAA Tournament qualifier and Big West champion Pacific on Dec. 16.  Nevada will travel to 2006 NIT participant Akron on Dec. 22 in a return of last year’s BracketBuster game and plays host to Maine on Dec. 28.

The Wolf Pack wraps up its non-conference schedule with a trip to the Pacific Northwest for the Battle in Seattle on Saturday, Dec. 30. Nevada will take on nationally ranked Gonzaga in the event. Last year, the Zags ended up 10th in the final national polls, winning their sixth straight West Coast Conference regular-season title and advancing to the NCAA Sweet 16.

Nevada opens Western Athletic Conference action at home, playing host to Idaho and Boise State on Jan. 6 and 8, respectively, before hitting the road for games at San Jose State and Hawai’i. The team also travels to New Mexico State, while Fresno State, Louisiana Tech and 2006 NCAA Tournament qualifier Utah State travel to Reno in January.

The month of February will see the Wolf Pack travel to Louisiana Tech, Fresno State, Idaho and Boise State, while Hawai’i and San Jose State will visit Reno. The Wolf Pack will step out of conference action on Saturday, Feb. 17 to play in ESPN’s BracketBuster event. Nevada will travel to Utah State on March 1 before wrapping up the regular season on Saturday, March 3 against New Mexico State at Lawlor Events Center.

Nevada will head to Las Cruces, N.M., on March 7-10 looking to defend its 2006 WAC Tournament championship. New Mexico State’s Pan American Center will play host to the 2007 WAC Tournament with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
