Reno, Nev. - University of Nevada senior right-handed pitcher Tim Schoeninger was drafted in the 23rd round as 702nd overall pick by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2006 First-Year Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday. Schoeninger played two seasons for the Wolf Pack after transferring from Nebraska and joins teammate Shawn Scobee who was drafted in the 14th round on Tuesday by the Tornoto Blue Jays as two Pack players that have been drafted the last two days.

The Denver, Colo. native was the first pitcher in the Pack's three-man rotation the past two seasons and made 32 of a possible 33 starts missing just one outing in his two years at Nevada. This past season he led the Wolf Pack with 83 strikeouts which ranked sixth in the Western Athletic Conference while his 24 strikeouts looking was tied for eighth in the league. His 104.1 innings pitched this year was tied for the sixth most in the WAC.

Schoeninger toped the team with 104.1 innings pitched and two complete games. In the first night game in the history of Peccole Park he tossed a complete game and struck out a career and Nevada season high 11 New Mexico State University hitters in the 9-1 victory.
