RENO, Nev. - Junior rifle team member Michael Tanoue (Honolulu, Hawai'i) has been named to the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-District VIII men's at large first team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced today.

Tanoue helped lead the Wolf Pack to a fourth-place finish in air rifle at the 2006 NCAA Championships. He earned All-America honors in both air and small bore rifle this season. He was also named an All-American by the College Rifle Coaches Association in 2005 and 2006. Tanoue is majoring in biochemistry and holds a 3.92 grade-point average.

The academic all-district team was selected by members of CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) from District VIII, which includes the states of Alaska, Arizona, California, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and the Canadian province of British Columbia. Academic nominees must be at least a sophomore academically, contribute as a starter or significant reserve and maintain at least a 3.20 overall grade point average.

The first-team all-district selections automatically advance to the national ballot with the ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America team being announced in June.
