RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada's blue rifle team defeated the University of San Francisco at the NCAA Qualifier held here February 10-12, with Nevada winning 2318 to 2103 in small bore and 2336 to 2218 in air.
Nevada's Meghann Morrill took honors in both disciplines with scores of 586 in small bore action and 586 for air. Mike Tanoue earned second-place honors in small bore with 578. Lee Lemenager and Sarah Smith shared third-place in small bore with 577. In air rifle, Smith took second-place honors with a personal best performance of 584. Tanoue and Corrie Holmes shared third-place honors in air rifle.
The NCAA Rifle National Championships Committee will announce the invitation of eight teams and eight individuals to compete in the Championships on February 21st. The NCAA Championships will be held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo., March 10-12.
