RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada's Blue rifle team defeated the University of San Francisco here on January 28-29, 2280 to 2120 in small bore and 2334 to 2226 in air. With the win, Nevada improved to 5-2 on the season.

Nevada's Michael Tanoue was the top gun in both disciplines with scores of 585 in small bore action and 590 for air. The Pack's Corrie Holmes set a new personal best air rifle score of 586 and helped pace Nevada to it's best team air score of the year. Teammate Lee Lemenager also had a strong performance in air rifle with a 581. Also contributing to the solid team performance were freshmen Sarah Smith and Andy Hickey, who each posted solid scores.

In exhibition action, the Nevada Silver team shot 1725 in air with only three competitors. Holly Caraway led the Pack with a 579 and was followed by Dawn Tarbet with a 577 and Candy Noel with a score of 569. Amanda Dorrough did not finish.

The next match for the Nevada is February 10-12 at home when they host the NCAA West Coast Qualifier.

In other international rifle action, former Wolf Pack All-American Ryan Tanoue placed 19th out of 83 shooters with a 594 out of 600 possible on Jan 26th in Munich, Germany at the Bavarian Air Gun Championships. Tanoue added an eighth-place finish on the 28th, as well, with a 595 to score 100.2 among the 83 competitors. In the junior women's category at the same competition, Nevada sophomore Meghann Morrill placed 18th out of 67 with a score of 392 in air rifle on January 26th. She added a 388 for 43rd place January 27th.
