Colorado Springs, Colo. - A big win for the Nevada rifle team last weekend boosts the confidence of many shooters.  On Friday and Saturday the Wolf Pack faced both the Air Fore Academy and Wyoming for the first time this season, and beat UTEP, to remain perfect versus the Miners.  The Pack then had a dual with the Air Force Academy on Saturday and Sunday.

“The team shot particularly well in the second match (against Air Force Academy).  Meghann Morrill, Sarah Smith, Andy Hickey, and Heather Horn were especially effective,” said coach Fred Harvey.

Between the two matches, Morrill and Smith led the Pack in air rifle with season high scores of 587, which tied them for second place.  Leah Wilcox from UTEP placed first at 588.  For the small bore, Hickey tied for first place with the Air Force Academy’s Jess Palomba shooting a 575.  Horn ended with 569 in small bore and tied with UTEP’s Kayra Davila for second.  These were also season highs for both Hickey and Horn.

With a tough loss to TCU back in Oct., this was a crucial win for Nevada.  The Wolf Pack won’t be shooting again until Feb. 10-11, 2007 in the NCAA Qualifiers/NRA Sectional in Fort Worth Tex.
