Game Notes from Nevada’s 85-62 Win over Alaska-Anchorage

 

-         Nevada has now won its last four regular-season openers and 12 of the last 13 dating back to the 1994-95 season.

 

-         Nick Fazekas scored 29 points and had 10 rebounds to lead the Wolf Pack. It was the senior forward’s 42nd career double-double and moved him to 36 points behind Edgar Jones on the Nevada career scoring list. Fazekas now has 1,841 career points, while Jones is Nevada’s career leader with 1,877.

 

-         Fazekas also moved past Nap Montgomery (890 rebounds, 1964-66) for fourth on the career rebounding list. He now has 898 career rebounds in 100 games at Nevada.

 

-         Junior Ramon Sessions had 15 points and tied his career high with two three-pointers made.

 

-         Junior Marcelus Kemp tied his career bests with five three-pointers made and seven attempted. He finished the game with 17 points.

 

-         Nevada shot 65.4 percent in the second half, including 5-of-8 three-pointers.

 

-         Sophomore Lyndale Burleson and Sessions tied for the team lead with six assists apiece. That was just one shy of Burleson’s career best of seven, while Sessions moved into a tie for eighth on the Wolf Pack career list with 325 assists. He has turned in 325 assists in 64 career games, while Matt Williams (1987-91) needed 113 games to reach the same total.

 

-         The Wolf Pack also won its 10th consecutive home game and has now turned in a 46-5 record at Lawlor Events Center since the start of 2003-04 season (.902).
