RENO, Nev. (AP) - Marcelus Kemp scored 19 points, including 10 straight for Nevada late in the game, and Mo Charlo added 12 Wednesday night to lead the 17th-ranked Wolf Pack past UC Davis 78-51.
Nick Fazekas and Demarshay Johnson each had 10 points for Nevada (6-0), which shot 58 percent from the field and is off to its best start since the 1951-52 team opened the season 14-0.
Kyle Brucculeri scored 16 points and Phil Rasmussen had 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds for the Aggies (1-5), who upset Stanford last week but shot only 33 percent from the field against Nevada.
Lyndale Burleson and Kyle Shiloh each had five assists for the Wolf Pack while playing in place of starting point guard Ramon Sessions, who sat out with a hip injury but is expected to return Saturday against No. 16 UCLA in the Wooden Classic at Anaheim, Calif.
The duo also held freshman Vince Oliver, UC Davis' leading scorer, to five points, 10 below his average.
The Wolf Pack led 10-0 then went on another 10-0 run early in the second half to open a 51-31 lead on Denis Ikovlev's basket off an inbounds pass with 13:22 remaining. Fueled by Kemp, they added another 18-0 run down the stretch to seal the victory.
Trailing 40-24 at halftime, UC Davis' Jesse Lopez Low made a 3-pointer and Rasmussen scored on an inbounds pass to cut Nevada's lead to 41-31 with 16:40 left.
After Ikovlev capped the 10-0 run, Brucculeri and Marentez made 3-pointers for UC Davis, then Oliver made his first field goal of the game and Rasmussen scored to cut it to 59-41 at 7:30.
But UC Davis went scoreless the next 5 minutes, Kemp got hot and Nevada capped an 18-0 run with Seth Taylor's 3-pointer for a 77-41 lead with 2:12 left.
Charlo scored six points in the first 5 minutes to put Nevada up 10-0 then Kemp followed consecutive 3-pointers with a three-point play to extend the lead to 19-5 at 11:54.
Brucculeri and Rommel Marentez - who finished with 10 points - hit 3-pointers and Rasmussen scored inside to cut the lead to 28-17. But Fazekas scored and Ikovlev made two 3-pointers to put Nevada ahead 37-21 with 4:33 left in the half.
