Cashell Fieldhouse/Support Facilities
ROBERT CASHELL FIELDHOUSEÂ
Originally little more than a locker room facility, the Robert Cashell Fieldhouse underwent major renovations in 1989, 1993, and 2023. The Fieldhouse serves as the command center of the Nevada football program. Named for Robert Cashell, the principle donor for the renovations, the fieldhouse is home to the football staff as well as containing conference and media rooms. It has expanded team locker rooms, equipment and fitting areas for the athletes on the lower level. The second story is complete with conference rooms, film rooms, coaches offices and a reception area.
Conveniently located one level below the football coaches offices and meeting rooms, next to the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Medicine Center and the weight room is the Cashell Equipment Room. This provides storage, issuing of equipment to players and a laundry service for both football and baseball. The facility also houses locker rooms for Nevada's football, women's soccer, women's golf, and women's tennis teams and provides a coaches locker room and a team meeting room.
THE BITONIO FAMILY STRENGTH & CONDITIONING CENTER
Nevada Athletics received one of its largest donations in 2023, thanks to Joel and Courtney Bitonio's generous gift of $1 million to support the football program. The donation funded the new football weight room, named The Bitonio Family Strength & Conditioning Center, and supports student-athletes in Nevada’s pursuit to build a championship-caliber athletic department.
The facility has 5,000 square feet of workout space and 100,000 pounds of equipment, 80,000in free weights and 20,000is dumbbells.
Nevada's weight training facility features extensive, sport specific training emphasizing speed, strength, agility, and injury prevention.
Nevada's strength staff emphasizes the following:
- cardiovascular training
- daily abdominal work
- plyometric work (quick, efficient, and powerful muscle contraction)
- speed and agility training
- injury prevention for whole body with emphasis on knee, ankle, shoulder, and neck areas.
RENO ORTHOPAEDIC CLINIC SPORTS MEDICINE COMPLEX
Opened July 1, 1993, the Reno Orthopaedic Clinic Sports Medicine Complex, located next to Cashell, is one-of-a-kind, state-of-the-art complex that offers Nevada student-athletes some of the finest sports care in America.
The multi-million dollar complex was funded by the Reno Orthopedic Clinic, and serves as a treatment center for Nevada student-athletes and a diagnostic/therapy center for area residents.
