Nevada men’s golf junior Sam Meek has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week.
Meek led the Wolf Pack at the Mountain West Championship over the weekend and collected a top 15 finish. His tie for 14th place in the 55-player field marks his best finish in the Mountain West Championship. All three of his rounds came in at par or better, turning in rounds of 72, 66 and 72. Meek’s round of 66 on Saturday was tied for the second-lowest round of the entire championship.
With his two even par rounds, and score of 66 in the second round, Meek finished the championship at 6-under par. He collected 10 birdies and two eagles during the 54-hole stretch as well, and played the par 5s at 8-under. With his eagle in the final round, Meek became the single season leader in eagles with nine this year.
