Johnson named Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week
RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada junior guard Jazz Johnson has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the fifth ranked Pack to the Continental Tire Las Vegas Holiday Invitational championship.
The Lake Oswego, Ore. native averaged 14 points, 1.3 assists and one rebound as the Pack improved to 6-0 after three victories. He scored in double figures in all three games, shot 61.9 percent from the field, 64.2 percent from behind the arc and was a perfect 7-of-7 at the free throw line.
In the 90-55 home win over California Baptist he netted 11 points and dished out four assists. He made 3-of-7 field goals which included 3-of-6 three-pointers. In the 96-86 semifinal victory over Tulsa Johnson scored a Pack career-high 20 points making 5-of-7 three-pointers.
The guard had a perfect night in the title game making all five shots of which one was a three-pointer to total 11 points as the Pack claimed the title.
