Julien Evrard of the Nevada men’s tennis team was named the Bradley Drendel & Jeanney Student Athlete of the Week for the week of April 16, 2018. The sophomore finished 4-0 on the weekend, including helping lead the Wolf Pack to a conference victory over intrastate rival UNLV.
The Lille, France native began his dominant week of play at home on Friday, hosting San Diego State. Evrard clinched the doubles point with teammate Kostya Nesterenko on court No. 1 with a 7-5 victory. The sophomore then handily won his singles match, defeating Ignacio Martinez 6-1, 6-2 on court No. 1.
In the Wolf Pack’s match against UNLV, Evrard again helped clinch the doubles point on court No. 1 for Nevada, this time with a 6-2 victory over the Rebels. His biggest victory of the weekend came in singles, when he came back to defeat No. 89 ranked Alexandr Cozbinov 4-6, 6-2, 6-1. Nevada defeated the Rebels for the first time in four years, downing them 4-1.
Each week while teams are in season, the Nevada Wolf Pack will name one student-athlete the Student-Athlete of the Week based on the previous week’s performance.
