July 2019 Social Media Report

July is traditionally a slow month in college athletics, but the Nevada Wolf Pack kept plenty busy on social. Check out all the highlights below.

JULY 4

We celebrated America's independence with the rest of the country, encouraging our fans to celebrate safely over the holiday.

JULY 5

A goal of our department this year was to be the best campus partners we can be. With the largest reach on campus, we can help fellow departments. On July 5, we helped UNRPD and the campus spread important and timely messages about the explosion at Argenta Hall.

JULY 8

The summer usually means lots of awards coming out, and women's golf picked up some hardware in the classroom! The award winners included All-Mountain West athlete Victoria Gailey, showing a great balance of sport and learning in the department.

JULY 9

Nevada baseball added a big name to its staff when TJ Bruce announced Troy Buckley as his Associate Head Coach. The three baseball accounts garnished 54,000 impressions in the two days surrounding the breaking news.

JULY 11

July 11 marked a milestone as we come screaming toward the fall seasons, with the day coming 50 days out from the start of both the 2019 Nevada volleyball and football campaigns. The two posts reached more than 200,000 people across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, with the football Twitter post garnishing more than 160,000 impressions alone.

JULY 11

For the 51st time, Wolf Pack fans gathered at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City for the annual Governor's Dinner. We've made a concerted effort to increase live coverage of the event as a selling point for future dinners.

JULY 15/16

We celebrated the accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom as the Mountain West academic awards rolled out over two days. We combined for a total of 161 honors on the two lists.

JULY 19

To the pleasure of our fans, we announced three day kickoffs for the 2019 football season. We reached more than 100,000 people on Twitter, and the engagement rate on Facebook was more than double that the industry average.

JULY 20

Our first football feature of the fall came out. Over six weeks leading up until kickoff, the communications department will feature six players who shine on the field, but are relatively unknown as people.

JULY 23

Kicking off a successful Mountain West Media Days, the football preseason polls dropped on July 23. With lots of live coverage, we tallied hundreds of thousands of impressions in potential reach in just 24 hours.

JULY 25

In sticking with our tradition of supporting the community, our brand went pride to help celebrate Northern Nevada Pride. While the comments sections became a big of a disaster, we continue to support Wolf Pack fans of all backgrounds in Northern Nevada.

JULY 29

We dropped one of the best football commercials in recent history thanks to our friends at Orange Tree. Showing that people weren't tired of football after several weeks of heavy coverage, the commercial got tens of thousands of views across Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, a great number for our audience size. The posts also resulted in nearly 600 people visiting their account page on eVenue.

JULY 30/31

A few more big basketball announcements came out to end the month, with Coach Alford completing both his staff and roster for the 2019-20 season.

JULY 31

In what will hopefully be the start of a trend across our department, we gave fans firsthand access to Coach Norvell the day before fall camp started to ask him all their questions. In what was one of the best live Q&As we've done on Twitter, Coach was very open, hitting everything from the quarterback battle to injury news to his favorite band.
