RENO, Nev. – With another sold-out crowd on Wednesday night as the Nevada men's basketball team played host to rival UNLV, the University of Nevada shattered its all-time attendance record at Lawlor Events Center.
Wednesday night's crowd of 11,289 gives the Wolf Pack a total attendance of 151,926 so far during the thrilling 2018-19 season. That mark, in just 14 home games at Lawlor, tops the previous record of 150,674, set during the 2005-06 season over the course of 18 dates at Lawlor.
Nevada has one more home game this season – March 9 against San Diego State when the Wolf Pack will honor its seven seniors in the regular season finale. Wednesday night's crowd was the largest of the season and the eighth crowd over 11,000 fans this season.
The top three season, in terms of per-game attendance, have come during the past three seasons under head coach
Eric Musselman. The Wolf Pack broke the per-game attendance record two years ago in 2016-17 when an average of 8,923 fans came to 14 home dates that season. That eclipsed the mark of 8,903 set in 2006-07 during the senior season of Nick Fazekas, whose No. 22 was officially retired at halftime on Wednesday.
Nevada broke the per-game record again last season, averaging more than 9,000 fans per game for the first time in school history. Nevada will shatter the mark this season as it is averaging nearly 11,000 fans per game this season at 10,852.
