Musselman named NABC District 17 Coach of the Year

Fourth coach of the year honor for the Wolf Pack's third-year coach

RENO, Nev. – University of Nevada head men's basketball coach Eric Musselman has been named the National Association of Basketball Coaches District 17 Coach of the Year.  It is the fourth coach of the year honor for Wolf Pack's head coach this season.

Musselman was named the Mountain West Coach of the Year selected by the conference coaches and media.  The United States Basketball Writers Association selected him as their District VIII Coach of the Year for the second year in a row.

The third-year head coach has led the Pack to the Sweet 16 and Nevada will play Loyola Chicago (30-5) on Thursday in Atlanta.  It is the second Sweet 16 appearance in school history with the first coming in 2004.  Nevada rallied twice for victories in Nashville, Tenn., 87-83 over Texas in overtime and 75-73 versus Cincinnati to reach the Sweet 16.

Nevada is 29-7 and has won back-to-back outright Mountain West regular season titles.  It is just the second time in MW history a school has won back-to-back outright championships.  BYU was the first team in 2007 and 2008.  The 29 wins ties the 2006-07 for the most in school history.
